Scott Alan Fisk
1959 - 2010
Scott Alan Fisk, 50, of Helena, died March 22, 2010, at University of Washington Medical Center from complications of a bone-marrow transplant for treatment of leukemia.
Scott was born Oct. 11, 1959, in Chehalis, Wash., to Mel and Arlene Fisk. He attended Wade Calvin in Sumner, Wash., Terrace Heights Elementary and East Valley High School in Yakima, Wash. He graduated from Hanford High School in 1978. Scott attended Eastern Washington University and later graduated from Western Washington with a BA in journalism and MFA in creative writing from the University of Arizona.
Scott graduated with honors from the University of Montana School of Law in 1999. He clerked for Justice James C. Nelson, Montana Supreme Court for two years. He was a partner in the litigation department at Crowley Fleck in the Helena office.
Scott’s greatest joy was the birth of his son, Joshua. Scott delighted in everything that Joshua did, enjoyed every minute of being a dad and had so many plans for things for father and son to do together. He loved Joshua with his heart and soul; he fought his disease until the end to be able to do those things together.
He was the best uncle, brother, son and daddy that anyone could ever want. He made our family circle complete, brought us much joy and celebrated the joy of being together for any occasion.
He is survived by his son, Joshua Fisk; his parents, Mel and Arlene Fisk; his sister, Vicki Piippo and her husband, Robert, and their children, Tracy Piippo and his wife, Danelle, Nicholas Piippo and Micah Piippo.
He is also survived by so many friends that hung with him through this journey and now are embracing us and uplifting us up as we mourn our loss.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be on Saturday, March 27, at 3 p.m. in Helena at the Holiday Inn.
A memorial fund has been established in Scott’s name with Camp Mak-A-Dream. Scott rode in the Ratpod race each year to raise money for this camp that provides a medically supervised, cost-free Montana experience, in an intimate setting for children, young adults and families affected by cancer.
Donations in his name can be made to: Children’s Oncology Camp Foundation, P.O. Box 1450, Missoula, MT 59806.
